We were honoured to have legendary punk rocker and longtime customer Billy Idol bring our Cutler and Gross collaboration to life back in May.
The atmospheric and cinematic shoot saw the iconic artist, alongside musician and model Staz Lindes, take to sun-drenched streets and moody motels across Los Angeles, as well as cruising through the city in a vintage Ford.
The new Modern Relics collection featured six new frames, all handcrafted in Japanese titanium. Drawing on the experimentation and spirit of the early '70s, each style pays homage to the trailblazers of the era, with the collection also paying tribute to The Great Frog’s own heritage. The Carol and Paterson Sunglasses are named after Reino’s parents, who founded the brand in 1972.
Speaking about the collaboration, Reino said: “This collection is a homage to the spirit of the early '70s, where anything goes and experimentation is key. A new era of fashion, music and art was emerging as rebellious youth travelled, explored and brought back semi-precious stones, jewellery and fabrics from travels afar. We’ve mixed bold twists on timeless silhouettes with contemporary designs, drawing on The Great Frog’s heritage of silversmithing and Cutler and Gross’ flair for expertly crafting frames, alongside modern Japanese titanium.”
